Or perhaps more accurately, it has provided a perfect yet challenging stage for the construction of an unlikely road from an unlikely place to a yet-to-be determined, and perhaps unidentifiable, final destination. Throughout the five different decades, since 1971, the goal has always been clear, the determination focused, the enthusiasm unbridled and the journey remarkable for all those who have been involved, past and present, and will continue into the future. Spruce Meadows has always been, and will always be, a work in progress. The dream of the Southern family, from the start, was to create a unique environment of “good friendship, good commerce and good sport”. This dream has been shared from its genesis by a committed group of corporations, volunteers, media, athletes, staff, fans and officials. Together these stakeholders have shaped the dream and built a most memorable place on a firm foundation. Many have been a part of the entire journey through five decades.
