Rolex Grand Slam magazine - Number 4

F or more than 50 years, Rolex has maintained close ties with equestrian sport, sharing its values entirely. In this spirit, as Title Sponsor for the fourth consecutive year, the brand is actively supporting the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, the pinnacle of the equestrian season since 2013. The Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping is without equal in the equestrian world. Considered the ultimate challenge in show jumping, the Grand Slam rewards a rider who wins consecutively the “Rolex Grand Prix” at the CHI Geneva, the CHIO Aachen and the CSIO Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ – the three Majors with which the brand has been associated individually for decades. The Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping is about pushing limits; it is the embodiment of excellence and the determination to give one’s best, with elegance and grace. As such, for Rolex it is one of the top competitions in sport, one in which the brand is particularly proud to participate. This trophy is also unique because it offers the best riders in the world the opportunity to go down in history. Last year, Scott Brash – a Rolex Testimonee – assured himself a place in the annals of equestrian sport by becoming the first and only rider to date to earn this prestigious award. Just as for this admirable champion and his commendable feat, it is at the price of unrelenting effort that the competitors, who test their mettle in the three contests of the Grand Slam, rise to the peak of their discipline. As Steve Guerdat, the last winner of the CHI Geneva and also a Rolex Testimonee, observed, talent alone is not enough. Equestrian sport is above all a school of perseverance and pleasure in hard work. It requires the same commitment that allows us to keep Rolex at the pinnacle of the watchmaking industry. May the extraordinary success and example of these exceptional riders inspire all the participants in this new edition of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. My best wishes are with them as they saddle up and enter the ring.
