As the third Major of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping calendar year, the CSIO Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament will welcome an outstanding international field to Calgary from 9–13 September 2026. With riders representing 22 nations, including Olympic, World and European Champions, Rolex Grand Slam Major winners and many of the sport’s highest-ranked athletes, the iconic International Ring is set to host exceptional sport across the five days of action.

All eyes will be on Richard Vogel, who travels to Canada as the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping live contender with history within reach. The German has claimed the opening two Majors of 2026, winning the Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters before securing a second consecutive victory at TSCHIO Aachen with United Touch S. Having since risen to World No.1, Vogel will arrive at Spruce Meadows knowing that victory in Sunday’s CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, would see him become only the second rider in history to complete the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping.

The only rider to have achieved the feat, Rolex Testimonee Scott Brash, completed his historic Rolex Grand Slam at Spruce Meadows in 2015. Eleven years later, Vogel will attempt to emulate that achievement in the same International Ring – with Brash himself among those hoping to deny him. The British rider, currently World No.3, returns as defending champion after winning the 2025 CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, with Hello Jefferson. His remarkable record in Calgary also includes victories in the class in 2015 and 2016, underlining his exceptional affinity with one of the most demanding arenas in the sport.

Vogel heads a formidable German contingent. Daniel Deusser, currently World No.8, has his own outstanding record at Spruce Meadows, having won the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex in 2022, while reigning individual Olympic Champion Christian Kukuk adds further championship pedigree. Rolex Testimonees Vogel, Deusser and Sophie Hinners arrive in Calgary fresh from helping Germany claim team gold at the FEI Jumping World Championships in Aachen last month.

Great Britain will also bring considerable strength to the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament. Alongside Brash, World No.6 Ben Maher arrives following another successful Championship campaign, having been part of the British team that secured bronze at the World Championships in Aachen. The three-time Olympic gold medallist is joined by Jessica Mendoza, Tim Gredley and Jack Whitaker.

Switzerland fields two riders with an extraordinary recent record at this venue. Steve Guerdat arrives as the newly crowned individual World Champion after securing gold with Dynamix de Belheme in Aachen in August. The current World No. 4 is also a previous winner of the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, having claimed the title in 2021. His compatriot and fellow Rolex Testimonee Martin Fuchs has been even more prolific in Calgary in recent years, winning the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, in both 2023 and 2024. Together, the Swiss pair bring an exceptional combination of current form and proven success to the International Ring.

The host nation will be represented by seven riders, with Amy Millar joined by Kyle King, Kyle Timm, Nicole Walker, Sarah Lottis, Sean Jobin and Susan Horn. Millar arrives following her appearance for Canada at the World Championships in Aachen, while the home contingent will look to draw on the support of the Canadian crowd throughout one of the country’s most prestigious sporting occasions, with the action on Sunday 13 September providing the biggest single-day sporting prize purse in Canada.

World No.9 McLain Ward, a two-time Rolex Grand Slam Major winner and one of the most experienced riders in the sport, will head the US contingent. He is joined by Lillie Keenan, who will arrive at Spruce Meadows in top form with multiple CSI5* wins under her belt in 2026, and 23-year-old Elena Haas, who was part of the US Nations’ Cup team that finished third at this meeting last year.

Belgium’s challenge is led by Thibeau Spits, one of the standout performers at the recent World Championships. The 25-year-old helped Belgium secure team silver before adding individual silver, further establishing his position among the sport’s leading young talents.

Ireland will be well represented, headed by Daniel Coyle, who has already enjoyed considerable success at Spruce Meadows this season, recording multiple victories in the International Ring during the Summer Series. Darragh Kenny also comes with strong form at the venue, having finished runner-up to Martin Fuchs in the 2024 CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex.

Further international contenders include Italy’s World No.7 Piergiorgio Bucci, who arrives in outstanding championship form having finished fourth individually at the World Championships. The Netherlands will be represented by a strong group including Rolex Grand Slam Major winner and former World No.1 Harrie Smolders, while France’s challenge includes Rolex Testimonee and former Olympic gold medallist Kevin Staut. Egypt’s Sameh El Dahan also knows exactly what is required to win in the International Ring, having claimed the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex in 2018, and will return alongside compatriot Nayel Nassar.

Sunday’s CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, will bring the week to a dramatic conclusion. With CAD $5 million in prize money on offer and one of the most formidable challenges in international show jumping awaiting the qualified combinations, the class represents one of the most coveted victories in the sport.

For Richard Vogel, however, the stakes extend far beyond a single Major title. After consecutive victories at The Dutch Masters and TSCHIO Aachen, one final win would place his name alongside Scott Brash as only the second rider ever to complete the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping.
